The funeral will begin Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, and continue with a funeral service at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Blakely. Interment, St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Blakely. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Parastas will be conducted at 6 p.m.  Masks are respectfully requested at the Funeral Home and Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Church, 1633 Main St., Blakely, PA 18447.

William P. Herold, 85, of Greenfield Twp., died Thursday, February 3, 2022,
at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53
years, Irene Hubiak Herold.

Born in Wilkes Barre, he was the son of the late Joseph and Madeline
Sterrett Herold, and he was an active member and Treasurer of St. Andrew’s
Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Blakely. He was a graduate of Hanover
Township High School, and he received an Associate Degree in Engineering
from Penn State Wilkes Barre. He was a mechanical engineer with Babcock and
Wilcox for 30 years, and retired after an additional 12 years with Pocono
Design Systems. He served with the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Bill was an active member of the community, volunteering with Meals on
Wheels and the Red Cross, and donating over 21 gallons of blood. He was an
expert gardener, winning numerous awards at the Harford Fair, and loved
sharing knowledge with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid
fisherman, sports and car enthusiast, and was a longtime member of the
Upper Susquehanna Region Cadillac LaSalle Club and the Scranton Region
AACA. He enjoyed organizing and attending car shows and working on cars and
equipment with family in his garage. Bill and Irene were adventurous
travelers who visited 39 of our 50 states. He was a devoted and much loved
husband, father and grandfather, and cherished supporting his
grandchildrens’ activities. He had a gregarious personality and loved
entertaining people with elaborate jokes, stories and parties. He will be
greatly missed.

Surviving is a daughter, Orena Herold VanBenthuysen, and husband, David,
Winfield, PA; a son, William Herold, and wife, Jennifer, Clarks Summit;
four grandchildren, Douglas and Drew VanBethuysen, Madeline and Will
Herold; a sister, Mary Hoffman, Ijamsville, MD; sisters-in-law, Sandra
Kuzmick, Bernadine Herold, Mary Herold; brother-in-law, William Hubiak;
nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John Herold,
brothers-in-law Gerald Kuzmick and George Hoffman.
