William A. Ellis, 78, of Scranton, and a resident of the Mid Valley Senior Care Center died Saturday morning January 9, 2016 at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. He is survived by his wife the former, Leona Scheder. They had been married 59 years.

Born in Blytheville, AR, he was the son of the late Conley and Helen Hamelbach Ellis and the step son of Dominick Tortorello. He was a graduate of Southside High School, Newark, NJ and later from Rutgers University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had been employed by Mead Packaging, Machine Division and later by Simpson Milligan Printing, Binghamton, NY. He served with the US Air Force during the Korean War with the 431 Tactical Fighter Wing.

Bill was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a talented carpenter who enjoyed remodeling a few of the homes he and his wife lived in throughout the years. He was a gunsmith who owned and operated a sporting goods store in Forest Lake, PA. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

His family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Mid Valley Senior Care Center for their outstanding care.

He is survived by a son, Robert Ellis and wife, Peggy, Jamesburg, NJ; two daughters, Kathy Bruenn and husband, Milo, Tampa, FL and Laura Wallo and husband, David, Dickson City; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; a brother, Edward Ellis and wife, June, Shreveport, LA; step sister, Kimberly Lambchino and husband, Michael, Bloomfield, NJ; two step brothers, Daniel Tortorello and wife, Pam, Bloomfield, NJ and James Tortorello and wife, Andrea, Rockaway, NJ; nieces and nephews.
