Walter Olszewski, 87, of Dickson City, died on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at home. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Matuszewski Olszewski.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary Yescavage Olszewski, and he was a member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City.  He was a graduate of Dickson City High School.  After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army as a baker and Cook. Prior to retirement, he was employed by local bakeries.

His favorite memory of servicing in the military was being on the same base as Elvis Presley and becoming friends, He also enjoyed playing softball in various softball leagues with his brother Eugene. Walter was an avid NY Yankee fan but enjoyed all sports in general. He also enjoyed listening to country music. During his retirement, he enjoyed doing yard work and taking care of his garden.

Surviving is a son, Walley Olszewski, Dickson City; niece, Judy Vispi, Jessup.

He was preceded in death by a sister Marie Yorkanis, a brother, Eugene F. Olszewski, and a nephew, Joseph Yorkanis.
