Theresa Eleanor Greening, 88, of Voorhees, NJ, formerly of Scranton, passed away on November 20, 2022, at Samaritan Hospice Center of Voorhees NJ. She and her surviving husband, Norton L. Greening, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 22, 2022.

Born in Dickson City, PA to the late Charles and Julia (Wnuk) Valonis, Theresa graduated from Dickson City High School in 1951. Finally, getting off her feet, Theresa ended her work career as a telephone customer service representative at JC Penney, Moosic, PA. She was a long-time member of Mary Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, Scranton.

Theresa was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was a fabulous cook and baker, known for her homemade pierogi, red velvet cake, pistachio nut cake, Welsh cookies, and many varieties of Christmas cookies. Her motto was the more food, the more love, because of all the love she put into making each dish. And it showed on the waistlines of those around her!

In addition to her husband Norton, surviving are her three children, Terri-Ellen Wasserstein (Alan), Voorhees, NJ, her sons, Gary R. Greening (Jackie), Bowie, MD, and Thomas A. Greening (Traci), Spring Brook Twp, PA, her six grandchildren, John N. Greening (Maggie), Media, PA, Valerie Aiken (Joe), Haddon Heights, NJ, Gary R. She is also survived by her two sisters, Dolores Padden, Olyphant, and Geraldine Nish (Peter) Scotrun, and a brother, Gerald Valonis (Ann), Dickson City.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her two sisters, Eleanor Valonis, and  Joan Wrabel, and two brothers, Charles and Joseph Valonis.

May God’s comfort and love be with the Greening-Valonis family. I will remember my beautiful, blonde Aunt Theresa as a strong woman who loved her family beyond measure and never met a stranger. She had a vibrant energy and a great laugh. She was at her best being a perfect hostess, opening her home to her extended family during Christmas or a celebration, when we felt her love through her welcoming, warm personality and her delicious cooking. I am blessed to have had such a loving woman as my aunt.
