A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday January 14th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Visitation Church 1090 Carmalt St. Dickson City, PA 18519. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Visitation Cemetery.

Sophie Veronica Babinski, formerly of Dickson City, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH, at the age of 98. She was born on April 21, 1920 in Dickson City, PA.

Sophie was a lifelong member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Dickson City.  She held many jobs during her long life including a riveter during WWII, building Curtiss P40 Warhawk airplanes in Buffalo NY.  She worked for 22 years at GAF(Ansco) in Binghamton, NY.   She was a Chaplin of the Binghamton Moose Club.  At the age of 50 she earned her GED diploma.  She was a devoted caregiver for her mother Veronica Zielinski and son Robert Babinski. Everyone who knew her will remember her quick wit, natural intelligence and strong independence.

Sophie is predeceased by her beloved family:  parents, Benjamin and Veronica Zielinski of Dickson City, her husband, Stanley J. Babinski, her son, Robert Babinski, her sister, Angela Kerecman of Manville, NJ and her brother Joseph Zielinski of Danbury, CT.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara Sampath and son-in-law Ravi; son Stanley Babinski and his wife Sandra of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter Priya Wiley and her husband Abraham Wiley; great grandchildren Lila and Logan Wiley of Merrimack, NH; brother Edward Zielinski of Manville, NJ and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday January 14th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Visitation Church 1090 Carmalt St. Dickson City, PA 18519. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Visitation Cemetery.
