Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City.  Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Duryea.  To leave an online condolence visit the funeral home website.

Rose Marie Sears, 87, of Olyphant, died Tuesday May 9, 2017 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sears.  He died July 25, 1982.

 

Born in Duryea, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Mary Marcinko Krappa and she was a member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City.  She was a former member of the Confraternity of Christian Mother’s at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Duryea and she was a counselor for Catholic Daughters at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant.  She was a graduate of Duryea High School and prior to retirement she was a cook at the J.C. Penney Restaurant.

Mom loved her family, her friends, bingo, talking politics, Penn State, and every underdog. She always wanted to leave her children billions. And she did. She left us billions of bits of advice, billions of smiles, billions of recipes, billions of hugs, and billions of warm memories that time will not erase.

Surviving is a son, Gerard Sears and wife, Mary, Seaford, Del; two daughters, Cathy Sosnowski and Debbie Sears both of Dickson City; grandchildren, Adam Sears and wife, Tapha and Bryan Sears and wife Lisa, and Gerard Sosnowski; two great grandchildren, Addison and Eliza Sears; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by a son in law Gerard Sosnowski; sisters, Beatrice Crane, Geraldine Fedorski and Jean Metro; brothers, Bernard, Leonard, Robert and Ronald Krappa.
