Robert Leslie Holzman, 84, of Dickson City, died Tuesday afternoon at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, surrounded by his family, following an illness.  The family is grateful to the staff at the hospice for their compassionate care during the final days of Bob’s life.  He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

Bob was born on December 12, 1935, in Scranton, PA, son of the late Adam Holzman and Wilhelmina (Minnie) Yayer.  He was a graduate of North Scranton Junior High School and Johnson School of Technology.   He married the love of his life, Joan Budzinski, on June 14, 1958, and the couple lived in Dickson City.  Bob spent two years in the US Army 101st Airborne Division.  He worked as a mechanical engineer at Albert E Peters Associates in Scranton and then as Supervisor of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Department of General Services, in Harrisburg, until his retirement.

Bob is survived by his wife Joan, Dickson City; daughter Christine Marie Nicklin and husband Roger, Winchester, England; son Robert Mark Holzman and wife Jessica Lewis Holzman and their niece Kayla, Portland, OR; grandchildren Michael Robert Nicklin and Jade Catherine Nicklin, Winchester, England; brother William (Bill) Holzman, Cordes Lakes, Arizona; niece Lorelei Ann and nephew Bill, Arizona; and great-nephews Ryan and Michael.  He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Nicklin.

Spending time with his dear wife and watching westerns and Penn State football were his favorite pastimes.  Bob and his wife traveled to Hawaii, the western US, England, Paris, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium during their 62 happy years of marriage.  They also enjoyed many trips on the east coast with their friends, Pat and Ken Senkow.
