The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City with mass at 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, Montdale.  Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Scott Twp.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the food pantry at St. John Vianney Parish at  Corpus Christi Church, 704 Montdale Road, Scott Twp., PA 18447.  For directions or to leave an online condolences visit the funeral home website.

Robert J. Karlavige, 80, formerly of Dickson City and Scott Twp., died Monday morning at the Mid Valley Manor Care Center, Peckville.  He was preceded in death by his wife the former, Margaret McConnell.

Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late William and Helen Petrilla Karlavige and he was a member of St. John Vianney Parish at Corpus Christi Church, Montdale.  He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School, Dickson City and Dickson City High School.  Bob joined the US Air Force serving as Crew Chief and after his discharge joined the Army National Guard where he served for 20 years.  He had been employed by Ford Motor Company, Metuchen, NJ, and for many years he was a self employed masonry contractor and prior to retirement he was employed by the Clarks Summit State Hospital and the Lakeland School District.  He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5937, Dickson City.

Bob’s family would like to recognize his longtime companion Barbara “Snooky” Krahil for the loving care she provided Bob especially over the last four years.

Bob was an avid sportsman and woodsman, he enjoyed fishing, hiking and hunting throughout Pennsylvania, Maine, Alaska, New York, Montana and Canada.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his siblings, Elaine Koslowski, Dickson City, Barbara Earley and husband, Thomas, Dunmore, Bill Karlavige and wife, Marie, Dickson City, Rose Ann Karlavige, Dickson City, Joseph Karlavige and wife, Paulette, Dickson City, Frank Karlavige and wife, Mary, Spring Brook Twp., and Jim Karlavige and wife, Joan, Jessup; his companion, Barbara Krahil; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Kotcho and brothers in law, Thomas Koslowski and Paul Kotcho.
