Friends may call on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at the Scott Twp. Hose Company 1027 Montdale Road, Scott Twp. from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.  A memorial service will begin at 12 noon.  Masks must be worn and social distancing maintained.

Richard S. Tratthen, Sr., 83, of Scott Twp., passed away peacefully Saturday evening at home surrounded by his family.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, the former Pearl Krzan.

Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late Richard and Evelyn Frazier Tratthen, and he was a member of the Montdale United Methodist Church.  He was a  graduate of Throop High School, and he served with the 109th B Company Pennsylvania Army National Guard.  He served as a Scott Twp. Police officer, a truck driver, and he worked for 30 plus years at Jerry’s Sports Center.  After retirement, he enjoyed being a school bus driver.

He was a lifetime member for over 60 years with the Scott Twp. Hose Company; where he served as auditor, treasurer, vice president, and financial secretary.  He also served with the relief association as a delegate, and he was an attendant and treasurer with the volunteer ambulance association.

His greatest accomplishment was his family, and he enjoyed spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren whom he enjoyed so much.  He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and his winter trips to Southern California.  He also enjoyed watching westerns, playing cards, watching the New York Yankees, and trips to the casinos.

Surviving is a son, Richard Tratthen Jr., and wife, Janet, Scott Twp.; daughters, Cathy Yescavage, and husband, George, Old Forge, and Lori Tratthen, Fullerton, CA; five grandchildren, Richard Tratthen III, and wife, Sarah, Scott Twp., Seth Tratthen, Scott Twp., Kelly Vogt, and husband, Adam, Scott Twp., Crystal, and Brandon Yescavage, Old Forge;  eleven great-grandchildren.

Also surviving a sister, Evelyn Richardson; two brothers, William Tratthen, and Jack Tratthen, and wife, Betty; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Tratthen, and a sister, Jane Kurilla.
