The funeral with military honors will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in  the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with services by Rev. Richard D. Evans, 81, of Greensboro, GA and formerly of Scott Twp., died Sunday morning April 3, 2016 at the Georgia War Veterans Home, Milledgeville, Ga.  He was preceded in death by his wife the former Barbara Wisniewski.  She died September 28, 2009.

 

Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Nielson Evans and he was a former member of the Montdale Methodist Church.  He was a graduate of Westmoreland High School and Broome Technical Institute and he had been employed as a diesel mechanic for Campo Express prior to retirement.

 

He served with the US Army during the Korean War and he was a member of the American Legion Post 665, Dickson City.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Marie Gaynel Leonard, Jermyn, Donna Wallo and husband, Jim, Blakely and Raino Evans, Greensboro, GA; a son, Richard Evans and wife, Deonne, Land O’Lakes, FL; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild;  a sister, Barbara Lasard, Binghamton; nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by brothers, Donald, Albert and James Evans, and a sisters, Mary Haughtalen and Peg Kerth.
