Raymond P Zalewski, 69, passed away January 8,2021 at Regional Hospital, Scranton from complications of COVID-19. Born Oct. 7, 1951, son of the late Frank G. Zalewski and the late Bertha S. Karvotski Zalewski. He was a resident of Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center for the past 19 years. Prior to an accident in 1982 that left him permanently disabled, he enjoyed many exciting life experiences. He traveled through Canada and Western US and even worked for several years on the Alaska railroad. He settled in Lewiston, Idaho before his accident. Ray’s passion was Country Music and he had the opportunity to attend many concerts in the area as well as to satisfy a life-long wish to see Country Music Stars and the Hall of Fame of Country Music in Nashville, Tenn. At the Ryman Theater he had the joy of meeting the celebrities, Wynonna, Minnie Pearl and Kelly Pickler. Raymond was a loving father, son, brother and friend. He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Zalewski, of Eugene, Oregon; sisters, Carol Hamp-son and husband Jim, New Bern, NC; Elaine Bevilacqua and husband Vince, Factoryville, PA; Christine Aung-Din and husband Ken, Jacksonville FL. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by infant twin sons, Raymond, Jr and Randall; a brother Frank Zalewski Jr.; a sister June McCarthy; and a brother-in-law Jack McCarthy. The family would like to thank the staff of the Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center for their loving care of Raymond during his residency, and the staff at Regional Hospital for the compassionate care.
