The funeral with military honors will be Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, Montdale.  Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the at the funeral home.  Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Scott Twp.  To leave an online condolence visit the funeral home website.

Peter Sashko, 89, of Scott Twp., died Saturday morning at home, surrounded by his loving family.  He is survived by his wife, the former Dolores Smith.

Born in McAdoo, he was the son of the late Peter and Anna Lotash Sashko, and he was an active member of St. John Vianney Parish at Corpus Christi Church, Montdale, serving as an usher.  He was a graduate of McAdoo High School, and he served with the US Army during the Korean War.  He had been employed by Weston, Sandvik, and he retired from Bendix Corp. as their Quality Assurance Supervisor.

He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was an avid hunter. He enjoyed fishing and fly-fishing local streams, and he spent many wonderful days on his boat at Lake Ontario with his family and friends.  He and his wife enjoyed their trips to Alaska, Germany, and Las Vegas.  He will be deeply missed by his family, and friends.

Surviving is a daughter, Mary Ann Ziobro, and husband, Mike, Scott Twp., sons, Peter Sashko, and Kim, Scott Twp., Dr. John Sashko, and wife, Kris, Tacoma, WA, and James Sashko, and wife, Samantha, Scott Twp.; grandchildren, PJ, Randy, and wife, Amber, Brian, and Samantha Sashko, Madison, and Mikayla Ziobro; great grandchildren, Emily, Gianna, Amelia, and Peter IV, Maddox, and Lincoln Sashko; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Sashko; sisters, Mary Sharp, Ann Thur, Natalie Farrow, and Arlene Fritz.
