Peter Polinsky, 67, of Lake Winola died Friday, May 21, 2021.  Born December 3, 1953, in Peckville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Peter and Dolores Evanick Polinsky.

Peter was a 1971 graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy on January 8, 1973, as a boatswain’s mate and served in the Pacific onboard USS Badger (FF-1071) and USS Dixon (AS-37) with service notable in Guam and the Philippine Islands. For the rest of his life he loved sharing his sea stories. After his discharge in 1978, Pete began helping his father and best friend run the family dairy farm. He enjoyed many seasons of hunting with his father.

For years, Peter worked at Specialty Records. In his spare time, he played guitar in a band and eventually built and repaired guitars. Another passion of his was long-distance bike riding, an interest that also extended to building bikes.

Along with building bikes and guitars, Pete loved to “build” breads. He supplied many Easter baskets with beautiful paska breads. He was always challenging himself with new and increasingly creative recipes.

One of Peter’s many pleasures and joys in life was being part of his religious community at St. Mary’s of the Lake, where he was blessed to become a Eucharistic Minister. Ever the craftsman, Pete also took up rosary making. He devoted a very large part of his time to creating customized rosaries, and he loved nothing more than giving them away.

Through the years, Peter kept in touch with many of his classmates and friends from his youth. After living most of his life on the family farm, he became a part of his new community at the Lake Winola Apartments, where his circle of friends grew. Pete was intelligent and well read. Along with his quick wit and keen sense of humor, he was a compassionate and caring man who deeply loved his family.

Peter is survived by sisters Kathryn Supinski (husband, Frank) and Christine Kingsley (husband, Thomas); nephews and nieces Kate Sirota (husband, Jeff), Lori Richel (husband, Nathan), Mark Szajkowski (wife, Andrea), Eric Szajkowski (wife, Jennifer), Stephanie Brooks (husband, Timothy), and Hillary Kingsley; and six great- nephews and nieces Audrey, Adam, Juliet, Emma, Lillian, and Olivia. We were all blessed to have had him in our lives and will miss him dearly.

The funeral will be Saturday, May 29th, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at  St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 1872 Dalton Rd, Lake Winola, PA 18625.   Interment with military honors will follow at  SS Cyril & Methodius Cemetery, Peckville.  Friends may call Saturday, 10 to 11 am at the church.  Masks and social distancing will be required.  Arrangements Frank T.
