Mary T. Runco, 66, of Throop, died on Thursday evening, November 3, 2022, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, with her loving children by her side.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Neveroski Balicki, and she was a life-long member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Throop. She was a graduate of Mid Valley High School, and she was employed as a staff assistant in the nursing department at Penn State University, Scranton, a job she truly loved.

In her life, few things brought Mary more joy than her children, Danielle and Jonathan. She was a devoted mother and friend to everyone. She took
pride in her career as the staff assistant to the Penn State nursing program. Her personality lit up every room she entered. She loved to laugh
and was always the life of the party, singing, dancing, and always having a smile on her face. Mary truly was the epitome of a mother: selfless in all
acts, giving so much more than she received. She will be missed deeply by everyone she knew. Danielle and Jonathan would like to send a special thank
you to her Penn State family and the nurses at CMC ICU.

Surviving is a daughter, Danielle Runco, Throop, a son, Jonathan Runco, and wife, Jessica Meadows, San Diego, CA; a sister, Ann Moskalczyk, and husband, William, Throop; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Balicki.

Her funeral will be on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with a mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Throop.  Interment St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Dickson City.  Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  For directions or to leave an online condolence visit the funeral home website.

Danielle, Jonathan and Jessica, I first met your mom many years ago in the Dawson building before she moved to Nursing. She helped the program grow to its present day success. As the years rolled by, the day came when I introduced her to our oldest daughter who was a new Freshman. Your mom got a huge grin on her face when she learned that her name was "Mary". "What a great name" she said as she hugged her and welcomed her to Penn State Scranton. The students and parents and coworkers that she greeted and made them feel like family are countless and she'll be truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Danielle and Jonathan, God alone knows how saddened I am to hear of the passing of your beautiful Mother. She was always the sweetest, most sincere person I have had the pleasure to have known at Penn State. She would go up and above the call of duty to help anyone who needed help. She was very easy and understanding to talk to. I will miss her and I will never ever forget her. Rest In Peace, my friend.
