Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St. Dickson City, PA, with mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dickson City. Joseph Siderowicz Sr., 95, of Dickson City, died Thursday morning, December 17, 2015 at the inpatient unit of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was preceded in death by his wife the former, Irene Konopka Siderowicz on August 23, 1996. They were married 51 years.

Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late Adam and Valeria Berlinski Siderowicz and he was a member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City and a former member of its Holy Name Society. He attended Dickson City Schools and he was employed by the Globe Store, Scranton, Joe’s Mens Shop, Dickson City and PNC Bank.

He was active in sports all of his life, organizing the Dickson City Softball League when only a youngster. Later he formed the Mid Valley Baseball Association. He served as business manager of the Dickson City Blackhawk’s, organized the Mid Valley Softball League and served as its President. He had served on the Lions Club Dream Game Selection Committee and coached men’s and women’s softball teams sponsored by the Globe Store. He also served many years as a director of the Scrantonian-Tribune Bowling Tournament.

Joe and Irene traveled all over the United States, as well as trips to Poland, Italy, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Canada. He loved music especially the Big Band Sounds of Glen Miller and the Dorsey Brothers.

We would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their wonderful care. We would also like to thank Linda and Richard Hendricks, Rose and Brad Louryk and Janice Suvock for all of the kindness they showed our father.

He is survived by two daughters, Michele Bartoli and husband, John, Dickson City, JoAnn Ciccotelli and husband, John, Pittsburgh; a son, Joseph Siderowicz Jr. and wife Tara, Plymouth, MA; five grandchildren, John Bartoli, Dickson City, Marisa Pitts and husband, Stephen, Lancaster, Jena Ciccotelli, Pittsburgh, Joseph Siderowicz, Washington, DC and Ethan Siderowicz, Brooklyn, NY; two great grandchildren, Alexa Irene and Stephen Michael Pitts; and Joe’s companion, Cicina Marra; nieces and nephews.

He was the last remaining sibling and he was preceded in death by four sisters, Stella Mondak, Agnes Wisneski, Mary Rutsky and Pearl Anuszewski and four brothers, Henry, Frank, Stanley and Adolph Siderowicz.

The funeral will be Monday at 10:45 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St. Dickson City, PA, with mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dickson City.
