Joseph A. Mielechowski, 85, of Scott Twp, passed away on December 21st, 2021, at Allied Hospice, Scranton.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara Joan Mielechowski née Connolly.

Born in Dickson City, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Tomczyk Mielechowski and a member of St. John Vianney Parish at Corpus Christi Church, Scott Twp.  Joseph was a graduate of  Dickson City High School and attended Temple University.  Prior to retirement Joseph worked as a telecommunication supervisor for AT&T.

Joseph was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed taking his family on annual vacations to Canada and the beach. Joseph was an avid traveler and always encouraged others to travel the world to experience other cultures. He especially loved his trips to Italy, Ireland and Greece.  Joe was an avid gardener and golfer who had an affinity for old-time movies, coffee, chocolates, and pastries. He enjoyed his weekly Wednesday coffee clatch with fellow OF’s and “Connolly”. He treasured nothing more than spending time with his family and his four-legged friend, Layla, aka Cookie. The family would also like to thank the many friends and family during this difficult time. A special thank you to Uncle Bob for always being there for Joe and the family in immeasurable ways. His family would like to thank the Geisinger Community Medical Center emergency department, trauma department, and palliative care staff as well as the staff at Allied Hospice for their wonderful care and support.

He is survived by his five children, Mary Clare Mielechowski and husband Joseph Goncheroski , VA, Terry Genther and husband Gary, VA, Denise Mielechowski and husband Andreas Georgiades, Philadelphia, Ann Lewis, Dunmore, and Joseph Mielechowski, Scott Twp; his four grandchildren, Demetria Genther,  Anikka Genther George and husband Gary , Parker Lewis, and Victoria Lewis; nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his grandson,  Kristofer Genther and his brother, Thomas Mielechowski.
