John was a great man and good friend. I'd only known him for several years moving here from the Wilkes-Barre area. He treated me like family and I enjoyed spending time talking at the store and having a few drinks with him and his buddy Larry. John will be sadly missed. condolences to the family.

"Uncle" John never failed to make us laugh. And never failed to make me think twice about my opinions -- which, as Gary will quickly tell you, is a rare feat. But when a man is as funny and as smart as he, one would have to be an idiot not to listen. And what he taught me most over the years is the importance of family and of treating others like they're family. The decency and respect he showed people will always stick with me.

John was such a wonderful man. I loved bonding over our love of growing up in NY but our mutual hate of the travel and traffic when we headed back for visits. He was always so kind and funny. I was so sad when he sold the deli that I wouldn’t get to see him daily. So able we were able to see each other over the summer and catch up. All my prayers to the family. You are all as wonderful as John and have lots of love being sent to you.
