John J. Maza, 63, of Dickson City, died unexpectedly Sunday morning December 13, 2020, at home.  He is survived by his wife of 36 years, the former Mary Beth Viscovitz.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Leonard and Alice Walasky Maza.  He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Parochial School, Dickson City, Scranton Prep, and Penn State University with a B.S. degree in Forestry Science.  He was employed by and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources as Assistant District Forester.  He was a lifelong, and active member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City where he served as president of the Ushers Society, worked at the parish bingo, and served as Scout Master of Troop 21 for many years.

John was a loving and caring father, who loved family gatherings.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, doing crossword puzzles while listening to polkas, taking his dogs Teddy and Toby for walks along the river trail with his wife, Mary Beth, and attending summer camp at Goose Pond with his scout troop.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are four children, Alex, Christopher, Julian, and Vicki Maza; mother in law, Dorothy Viscovitz Hauser; sister in law, Lori Saikowski; brother in law, Joe Viscovitz; and several cousins.
