The funeral will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St. Dickson City with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, Montdale.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Scott Twp.  Friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Due to Covid-19 guidelines, masks will be required for entry at the funeral home and church, and social distancing will be maintained.  For directions or to leave an online condolence visit the funeral home website.

John Grzybowski Sr., 78, of Scott Twp., died Friday, July 10, 2020, at home after a brief illness.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Gayle Kramer Grzybowski.  She died on June 27, 2019.

Born in Scott Twp., he was the son of the late Stanley and Helen Matyjewicz Grzybowski, and he was a member of St. John Vianney Parish at Corpus Christi Church, Montdale. He attended Scott High School, and after a long career in the building industry he became a self-employed contractor.

John was a member of the PA Harness Horseman’s Association and the United States Trotting Association.  He raced his horses at Monticello Raceway, and Pocono Downs at Mohegan Sun, Pittston.  He served on the Board of Directors at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Association, Scott Twp.  Prior to his wife’s death, they owned and operated “Home Away from Home Daycare” Scott Twp.

He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was known affectionately as “Papa John” to his grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom he adored dearly.  He will be deeply missed.

Also surviving are two daughters, Judy Hollenbeck, Williamsport, and Elaine McElroy, and husband, Kenneth, Scott Twp.; four grandchildren, Kevin Hollenbeck, and wife, Nicole, Lee Ann Trojan, and husband, Corey, Rebecca  Gaughan, and husband, Derek, and Jarrett McElroy and girl friend, Brittany Hoover; six great-grandchildren, Connor and Diana Hollenbeck, Vienna and Giovanni Trojan, Mackenzie and Trevor Gaughan; brothers, Stanley, and wife, Romayne, Maryland, Donald and wife, Linda, Scott Twp., Robert and wife, Mary Lou, Scott Twp.; sisters, Bernadine DePietro, and husband, Frank, Peckville, Regina Harper, Manassas, VA, Helen Yablonski and husband, David, Scott Twp., Susan Snyder and husband, Mel, Scott Twp., and Ann Marie Leonard, Scott Twp.; numerous nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, John Jr., and Thomas Grzybowski, son in law, Kevin Hollenbeck; brother, James Grzybowski; sisters, Patricia Moran, Margaret Scoblick, and Lucille Korczakowski.
