The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant, celebrated by Msgr. Michael Delaney, pastor.  Anyone attending the funeral is asked to go directly to the church Wednesday morning.  Interment Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.  Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Genevieve’s name to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 Williams St., Dunmore, PA 18510.  To leave an online condolence visits the funeral home website.

Genevieve Yazdzik, 89, of Archbald, died Friday September 7, 2018 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Yazdzik who died February 8, 1983.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Marion McCormick, and she was a member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant.  She was a 1946 graduate of Holy Rosary High School, Scranton.  She was active with the Holy Rosary Alumni Association, and the Dickson City Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 auxiliary for over 50 years, serving as commander for 12 years, and secretary for 30 years.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved visiting with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren teaching them many things including the “Donkey Song”.  She loved cooking for her family, and friends especially making her famous Polish Angel wings, Chrusciki.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Majernick and his staff for their continuous loving care, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart, and all of the “Angels” who cared for Genevieve during her time with them.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are daughters, Mary Elaine Biagi, Greeley, PA, and Noreen Evans, and husband, Marty, Archbald with whom she resided; a son, Kevin Yazdzik, and wife, Helen, Olyphant; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Yazdzik, son in law, Glenn Biagi, brothers, John, Francis, and Michael McCormick, sisters, Gertrude Mackrell, Mary Martini, and Alice Lestansky.
