Frances Agnes Cleary, age 89, formerly of Olyphant, and a resident of the Lackawanna Health and Rehab Center, Peckville, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at the center.

Fran was the only girl in a family of boys, and it was love at first sight for both of her adoptive parents. Agnes saw her at the orphanage and just knew Fran was meant to be a part of their family, and James took one look at her and was smitten. The rest was history.

Fran was proud and committed to her faith as a long-time member of St. Patrick’s Church and her community. She spent her life in Olyphant, never wandering too far—even for work as a shoemaker at the Golo Shoe Factory in Dunmore.

In her younger days, Fran was never without her camera. She loved taking pictures of her family and friends. It was her way of capturing the grace in every day and keeping her family with her at all times.

Fran sent cards for everything because life was always worth celebrating. She signed, love your beautiful Aunt Fran. And Fran was beautiful, inside, and out. She was loving in every sense of the word and gave her heart to everyone. She may not have had many material possessions, but she was rich in faith and family. She was incredibly funny and could always be counted on for a laugh and a hug.

She will be missed dearly by her sister-in-law Frances Cleary and her family including many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and especially Marlene Nestrick and her family and the Dziedzic family, who became like family over their many decades of dear friendship.

Fran is predeceased by her brothers Frances John Cleary, James (“Junie”) Joseph Cleary Jr., John Francis Cleary Sr., and Joseph James Cleary, sister-in-law Mary T. Cleary, her parents James Joseph Cleary Sr. and Mary Agnes Cleary (McDonnell), and her uncle and Aunt Walter and Geraldine Cleary.

CONDOLENCES AND PRAYERS FOR YOUR FAMILY ON YOUR LOSS

Posted by JERRI & STAN PRUSHINSKI on November 29, 2021

To the family of Frances Cleary; Please accept my sincerest condolances on Frans's passing. Fran was my babysitter when my mom, dad and I first, moved to the 100 block of Willow Street in the late 1940's. She would invite me to her home to watch "Kukla, Fran and Ollie" on that gadget called a "TV" in the early '50's. May Her Soul Rest in Peace. Amen. Mike Walsh Peckville, Pa
