Florence B. Washenko, 88, of Throop, died Tuesday morning February 10, 2015 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Twp. She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Washenko who died February 2, 1977.

Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Lottie Romanczyk Koritkoski and she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Throop. She was a graduate of Dickson City High School and she had been employed by Cedar Lanes, Scranton and prior to retirement in the local garment industry.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who enjoyed cooking for her family, playing cards especially “Zook”, spending time at her cabin and shopping with her granddaughter, Heather. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kevin Williams and Dr. William Heim, and the staff of the Hematology and Oncology Associates and the PCU staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for their care and compassion.

Surviving are two sons, William Washenko and wife, Deborah, Throop and John “Jack” Washenko, Throop; two grandchildren, Heather Washenko, Throop and William Washenko and wife, Lisa, Peckville; two sisters, Eleanor Strony, Olyphant and Helene Kiselica, Dickson City; a brother, John Koritkoski, Throop; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sister, Ruth Zigray and brother, Chester “Jake” Koritkoski Jr.

The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc. 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with mass at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Throop. Interment, St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Dickson City.
