Obituaries » Erwin Schmitt May 11, 2022 Erwin “Smitty” Schmitt, 96, of Scott Twp., died Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the Regional Hospital of Scranton, of COVID-19. He is survived by his wife Lillian Kozlosky Schmitt. They would have celebrated 69 years of marriage in July. Born in Franklin, NY, he was the son of the late John and Florence Caswell Schmitt, and he was a member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City. He worked as a foreman for Interstate Safety along with owning and operating an excavating business. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was hard-working, freely sharing his assistance and knowledge, which was great. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved gardening, and in retirement, he enjoyed hooking rugs. He was an incredibly talented man who will be deeply missed. Surviving are his children Diane Oakes, Ohio, Debora Duchnik, Scott Twp., and Irene Thomas, and husband, Bob, Scott Twp.; grandchildren, Travis Oakes, Summer Oakes, Misty Kosak, and husband, Walter, David Thomas, and wife, Patrice, and Mary Thomas; great-grandchildren, Liam Contreras, Evelyn Thomas, Lillian Thomas, Gabriel Thomas, Abigail Kosak, Willow Kosak; two sisters, Evelyn Denison, NY, and Clara Glavin, NY; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Campbell, and a brother, Eugene Schmitt. There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements will be at the convenience of the family by the Frank T.
