Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City.  Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dickson City.  To leave an online condolence visit the funeral home website.

Ernest L. Terry, 95, of Dickson City died Friday April 7, 2017 at Mountain View Care Center, Scranton.  He was preceded in death by his wife the former Pearl Krukovicz; she died March 15, 2015.  They had been married 71 years.

 

Born in Hawley, he was the son of the late, Ernest and Louise Curtis Terry and he was a member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City and its Holy Name Society.  He had been employed as a cutter in the garment industry and prior to retirement he was employed as a mechanic at International Harvester.  He was educated in Hawley schools and he served with the US Army Air Corps during WW II and he was a member of the American Legion Post 665 for 66 years and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 both of Dickson City.

 

Ernie’s family would like to thank Mountain View Care Center, especially the nursing staff of Alcor for the extraordinary care they gave Ernie.  Also the family would like to thank the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their guidance during Ernie’s final journey home.

 

Surviving is a daughter, Diane Yanochko and husband, Michael, Dickson City; three grandchildren, Stephen Yanochko, Dickson City, Brenda Zavistoski and husband, Michael, Mountain Top and Gregory Yanochko, Blakely and companion Mary Louise; two great grandchildren, Mason Zavistoski and Krysten Moore and husband, Cameron, Olyphant; a brother, Kenneth Terry, Texas; two sisters, Jane Karder and husband, Charles, California, and Ellen Kline, New Jersey; a sister in law, Anna Terry, New Jersey; nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Terry and a sister, Peg Mimmick.
