Eleanore D. Sparrow, 95, of Scott Township, died Monday, July 6, 2020, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Sparrow, who died April 4, 2016.

Born in Scott Twp., she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Skwish Tranovich. She was a devoted, lifelong member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City, and she was a member of its Christian Mothers Society, and cafeteria mothers.

Eleanore loved her church. It was especially important to her to receive the Holy Eucharist, and if she wasn’t able to walk to the altar her husband Skip would help her. She always had a rosary in her hands, most to the time wrapped around her wrist. She loved God and her family and her church. She lived a long life surrounded by her family that loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed.

Surviving are two daughters, Alexa Brown, Scott Twp., and Denise Corkill and husband, William, Howard, PA; a grandson, Staff Sgt. Wellington C. Brown, Palmyra;  a sister, Alona Dougalas and husband Tony, Mountaintop; sisters, in law, Pearl Tranovich, and Doldie Petroski; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Edward, Eugene, Ronald, and Dion Tranovich.
