Elaine Eleanor Lapinski, daughter of the late Henry J. and Eleanor Seymore Lapinski, passed away prematurely at 63 from colon cancer on October 8th.

Elaine is a graduate of Dickson City schools and the Star School of Beauty.  Unfortunately, due to an injury, she wasn’t able to pursue her craft.  Elaine studied and became fluent in American Sign Language.  She held several key positions with Jamesway Department Stores which eventually led to a promotion at the home office in Secaucus, NJ; however, aging parents brought her back to the area to care for them.

Elaine had a huge heart and was first in line to render help to whoever would be in need regardless of her own timeline.  She was a “Jill”-of-all-trades and could do anything from painting, plumbing, electrical, etc.  She just had a natural ability and the many crafts she made over the years were prize-worthy.

Elaine was a consummate “Animal Whisperer” and made instant friends with any animal she would meet.  Her animal-loving friends will certainly attest to that.  Her pets were like her children, and she had several over her lifetime.  Her two current cats, Keeber and Gemma, are testimony to that.

Elaine is survived by a brother, Anthony Lapinski and wife Marlene, Archbald; nieces Lisa Fisher, Carbondale, and Keri Lapinski, Philadelphia; a nephew, Anthony Lapinski Jr and wife Melissa, Lancaster, and grand-nieces Kayleigh Fisher and Bailey Lapinski.

Elaine was preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael, and nephew-in-law Kevin J. Fisher.

Elaine would urge everyone to get tested on advice to do so from their doctors. She wants to be the poster child for medical testing, specifically colon cancer.

We want to thank the staffs of Moses Taylor Hospital, especially those of the 2nd and 4th floors, Mid Valley Healthcare Center, and Erin McGrath and Compassionate Care Hospice for their care and compassion, and a special thank you to her good friends Linda, Janet, and Rick, who gave her support and invaluable help during this difficult period.

Elaine’s funeral will be Monday, October 12th, at 9am from The Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St. Dickson City, PA, 18519, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City.  A private interment will be held at a future date.  Friends may call Sunday, 4-6pm.  Contributions can be made in Elaine’s name to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
