Daniel Novitsky, 89, of Dickson City, died on Saturday, October 8, 2022, he was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. After many years of fighting cancer, he lost his battle. Despite the challenges of his illness, he stayed strong until the very end.

In 1955, Daniel met the love of his life, Catherine, at a church dance.  They have been dancing together ever since, as Daniel and Catherine just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Daniel spent his childhood working on his family’s farm in Tompkinsville, PA. He graduated from PSU with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and worked at National Standard/Cross Manufacturing for 40 years. Although his profession was engineering, he would proudly share stories about his days on the farm at the dinner table every Sunday evening. Even after retirement, Daniel never truly stopped working. He could always be found in the backyard gardening, tucked in the garage woodworking, or, especially on sunny days, sitting on the back porch enjoying the view of all his hard
work. Daniel was the epitome of the phrase, “you cannot define a person on just one thing”, as he excelled in every role of his life. He intentionally left an incredible legacy of handcrafted masterpieces and memories for his family and friends to cherish. Daniel had many accomplishments, but nothing
made him prouder than his family.

In addition to his wife, Catherine, he is survived by his children Deborah Rimosites and husband Joseph (Throop), Lori Ann LaTorre (Peckville), Jacqueline Conforti and husband Anthony (Old Forge), Joyce Erickson and husband Aaron (AZ), and Daniel Novitsky and wife Jennifer (VA); his beloved grandchildren Joseph Rimosites and wife Kelley Thornton, Jeffrey Rimosites and wife Corrin, Alyssa Allen and husband Keith, Amanda Rimosites, Chelsea DeLeo and husband David, Vanessa LaTorre and fiancé Richard Reddock, Anthony Conforti, Austin Conforti, and fiancé Dominique DelPriore, Koen Erickson, Janelle, and Courtney Novitsky; his great-grandchildren Everett, Beau, Carter, and Nicollette; and his brother, George, and sisters, Joyce and Julie; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Jr., and his parents, Effie and John.

Daniel’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ira J. Kohn and Dr. Linda Thomas-Hemak for a lifetime of care and compassion. They are also grateful for the support from all medical staff, especially Dr. “Bob” Yanoshak.

The funeral will be Tuesday, October 18th, at 9:30 am from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St. Dickson City with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in SS Cyril and Methodius Church, Olyphant. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
