Claudio “Clyde” DePietro, 96, a resident of Olyphant, died Monday morning at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Martha Magalski.

Born in Olyphant, he was the son of the late Rocco and Carmella Morano DePietro, and he was a member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant.  He was a graduate of Olyphant High School, and he attended Lackawanna College.   He served with the US Army during World War II, a member of the 3rd Army 4th Armored Division at Normandy, France.  He was a lifetime member, and he served with the Honor Guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Shopa-Davey Post 6082, Peckville, and American Legion Raymond Henry Post 327, Olyphant.  Prior to retirement, he was employed in the local garment industry.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures life had to offer. He loved Penn State football, Yankees, and a good snack. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Surviving is a daughter, Sally Srebro, Peckville; grandsons, Rob Srebro and wife, Erin, Jessup, and Ryan Srebro and fiancée, Alicia Mazur, Dickson City;  great-grandchildren, Damon, Raelynn, and Matthew Srebro; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son in law, Robert Srebro; sisters, Rose Riccio, and Palmina Whitman.
