The funeral will be Monday with a funeral service at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew’s Greek Catholic Church, Blakely. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.  Interment, St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Blakely.  Due to the coronavirus restrictions, masks will be required for entry at the church.  You may be asked to wait outside to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines on numbers allowed in the church.

Anna Schlasta, 91, of Scott Twp., died Thursday morning January 7, 2021, at home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Stephen Schlasta, Sr.  He died October 26, 2011.

Born in Scott Twp., she was the daughter of the late Akym and Orena Bodniewicz Matechak, and she was educated in Scott Twp., Schools.  Prior to retirement she and her husband were self-employed transportation contractors and dairy farmers in Scott Twp.  Anna was a member of St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Blakely.  She loved her church and practiced her religion every day of her life.

Baba, as known to her family, loved her family and friends, and loved spending time with them and always treating them to her delicious entrees and baked goods.  She was a devoted and hard-working wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who dedicated herself to her family.

The family would like to thank Mary Elizabeth Schlasta, and Barbara Schlasta, for their care and compassion.

Surviving are three sons, Vladimir, and wife Rose Ann, Jermyn, Stephen Jr., Uniondale, and David and wife, Susan, Scott Twp.; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mary Matechak, Irene Hubiak, and Nancy Anuszewski; seven brothers, Daniel, Neftode, William, Stephen, Bertis, Victor, and Samuel Matechak.
