The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St. Dickson City with a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City.  Friends may call on Thursday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment with military honors will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, Jessup.  Due to Covid-19 guidelines, masks will be required for entry at the funeral home, and church and social distancing will be maintained.  For directions or to leave an online condolence visit the funeral home website.

Alfred “Al” Malinowski, 95, a resident of the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, and formerly of Dickson City, died Monday, August 24, 2020, at the center.  He was preceded in death by his wife the former, Pauline Sokirka Malinowski.  She died on October 1, 2011.

Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late Carl and Mary Mientek Malinowski, and he was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City.  He was educated in Dickson City schools, and he served with the Army Air Corp., during World War II.  Al was a member of American Legion Post 665, and Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 11 both of Dickson City.  He served numerous terms on the Dickson City school board and the Mid Valley school board.  Prior to retirement, he was employed by Bellig Shoe.

Surviving is a daughter, Jane Kupchak, and husband, Richard, Scranton; a son, Dr. Alfred J. Malinowski, and wife, Barbara, Downingtown;  daughter in law, Linda Malinowski, Dickson City; grandchildren, Dr. Richard Kupchak, serving with the US Navy, Farmington, CT, Melissa Angeli, and husband, Marco, Royersford, PA, Matthew Malinowski and wife, Lacey, Old Forge, Stephen Malinowski and wife, Sarah, Blakely, Kyle Malinowski and wife, Samantha, Olyphant, and Joshua Malinowski; great-grandchildren, Kamden Kupchak, Michael Angeli, Aliyha Malinowski, Madison Amato,  Jace Malinowski, and Ryan Malinowski; many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Carl, and Joseph Malinowski; sisters, Ceil Goldyn, Jean Besho, Irene Ochal, and Marion Shefchick; brothers, John, and Teddy Malinowski.
