The funeral with military honors will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City. Entombment, St. Mary’s Mausoleum.

Albert B. Yurkovic, 85, of Dickson City, died Thursday morning March 10, 2016 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife the former Victoria Bobrowski, who died April 8, 2011.

Born in Dickson City, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Visbiski Yurkovic, and he was a member of St. Mary’s Visitation Church, Dickson City. He was a graduate of Dickson City High School class of 1948 and he served with the US Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 665, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5937 all of Dickson City. Prior to retirement he had been employed as a truck driver for Reisch Trucking and A&P Stores and he was a member of Teamster Local 201, Scranton.

Al served two terms as school director, serving on the last school board at Dickson City school and the first school board at Mid Valley High School.

Surviving is a son, Michael Yurkovic and wife Mary Jo, Dickson City; a daughter, Susan Yurkovic, Santa Fe, NM; four grandchildren, Michael Yurkovic Jr., Dickson City, Todd Yurkovic and wife Danielle, Blakely, Ashley Gouldsbury and husband, James, Gouldsboro and Chad Yurkovic, Dickson City; six great-grandchildren, Julia, Stephen and Alivia Yurkovic, Emma, Ava and Maya Gouldsbury; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vincent “Bill” Yurkovic and Richard Yurkovic.
