Corrigan , Mary . Obituary

Mary Sweeney Corrigan, 90, of Olyphant, died Monday May 4, 2015 at VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was married at the age of 20 to the late James Corrigan.

Born in Olyphant, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Scanlon Sweeney and she was a 1943 graduate of Olyphant High School. She resided in Carbondale for 60 years and raised two loving children, Maureen Crea and the late Jay Corrigan. Later she lived in Dickson City to be near her son.

She worked in the garment industry and in the 70ís at Fashion Bug. She was an avid doll collector and donated many to charity. Her greatest joy was taking care of her son Jay. Even when he didnít want her to.

There are no words to describe the loss her daughter will feel. She was the greatest mother of all.

Also surviving is a son in law, Tony Crea, step granddaughter, Tanya Crea and like a daughter to her, niece Patricia Ryan Caterino; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister and best friend, Dorothy Ryan and brothers, Anthony, Donald, George and Leonard.

The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc. 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrickís Church at Holy Cross Parish, Olyphant. Interment, St. Patrickís Cemetery, Blakely.
