Piazza , Dorothy . Obituary


Dorothy “Dottie” Piazza, 49, of Factoryville, died Monday evening November 17, 2014, at home. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Piazza.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of Audrey Scripp Gorrick, Factoryville and the late William C. Banks. She was a graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School and she was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church. She had been employed as a waitress at Elby’s Big Boy, the Olive Garden and for the past 14 years at Perkins, Dickson City.

Dottie was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who fought a very courageous battle with cancer. She loved her pets Cosmo, Alley and Lucky. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

Surviving is a daughter, Lindsay Brace and husband, Dennis, Factoryville; a son, Thomas J. Piazza, Factoryville; grandchildren, Myla and Arionna Banks, Dashaun and Jayvon Banks-Brace; sister, Diane Anderson and husband, Brian, Fleetville; a brother, William Banks, Taylor; Dottie’s companion for 9 years, Michael Gibbs, Factoryville; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Beatrice “Ducky” and Martin Lynott, paternal grandparents, Dorothy and John Bobitka, step father, John “Duke” Lozinger; two brothers, Patrick and Toby Banks.

The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. with services in the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc. 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City conducted by Pastor Ginger Daubenhauser. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Scott Twp.
