The funeral with military honors will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City with mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, Olyphant.   Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery, Blakely.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to the Geno Merli Veterans Center, 401 Penn Ave, Scranton, PA 18503.  For directions or to leave an online condolence visit the funeral home website.

Michael Joseph Lesnesky II, 96, of Blakely and formerly of Dickson City, was called to be by God’s side Saturday morning July 15, 2017 at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years the former Romaine Dubravcak.

 

Born in Hooversville, PA, he was the son of the late Michael Joseph and Alice Lesnesky and he was a member of Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church and he was a former member of Holy Ghost Church, both of Olyphant.  He was educated in Dickson City Schools and he served with the US Navy during World War II attaining the rank of First Gunners Mate.  Prior to retirement he was employed by US Textile.

 

Mike was a founder and member of the Schrader Hunting Lodge of the Mid Valley since 1947.  He loved to hunt and fish and he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.  He has now been reunited with the love of his life Romaine and their sons, Paul and Larry, where he is enjoying the company of his siblings, family, friends and brothers in arms who have preceded him.

 

Affectionately known as Mikey or Pop Pop, he was a devoted son, father, grandfather and great grandfather, as well as a beloved friend.

 

Surviving are his son, Michael Joseph Lesnesky III and wife, Donna, Peckville; grandchildren, Lori Lesnesky, Scranton, Jamie Stracham and husband, Rob, Montdale and Michael Joseph  Lesnesky IV and wife, Barbie, Scranton; great grandchildren, Samantha, Robbie and Jacob Stracham; brother in law, Robert Dubravcak and wife, Barbara, Jessup and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his sons, Paul and Larry Lesnesky and several step brothers and sisters.
